Middle-class families are already booking up tutors as Philip Hammond announces more funding for the new schools that will become grammar schools.
Middle-class children, who will need the tutors to help elevate them above the council house people, are looking forward to spending Tuesday and Thursday evenings practising entrance examinations for the new schools.
Little Bobby Thape (9) will no longer be able to attend backgammon club because of his 6.00 – 7.30 on Thursdays with his new tutor.
‘I like the new education initiative from Mr. Hammond. It should help myself and other underprivileged children become more socially mobile,’ said nine year old, Little Bobby.
‘Even my tutor is middle-class. The whole plan’s working a treat,’ added Little Bobby.
