The public have admitted to taking and using Asda shopping baskets as a replacement for plastic bags.

People have been stuffing them under the sink, hanging them on the back of the kitchen door and keeping loads of them in that drawer with the batteries and radiator key in.

Local man, Peter Thape likes to keep a few of them around for kid’s lunches, keeping his minging gym trainers in, and scooping up dog poo.

‘I like to keep one in my coat pocket for emergencies,’ said Thape.

‘They’re handy to have around and only take 800 million years to biodegrade,’ added Thape.
