Unemployed couple don’t meet criteria for Canadian emigration

A couple with a young child have failed to meet the criteria set for immigration by the Canadian government.

The family from Sussex, are currently both in receipt of state benefits, and have subsequently not reached the points tally required to resettle.

The father of the family, who is a former military man, has assured Canadian immigration that he’ll be taking the right steps to qualify in the future.

‘I’m doing NVQ 1 and 2 in Roofing at Sussex Community college,’ said the family’s father.

‘Plus, I’ve got a year’s brickwork. Does that count?’ he asked.
