USA hoping to catch up with Djibouti, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe on child marriage rules

Thirty America states have announced plans to raise the minimum age for marriage to fourteen in the next few years.

Unfortunately the other 20 states have refused to have any minimum age at all, allowing children to get married, and become parents.

The Congressman for Idaho, Peter Thape believes that the African system of being at least 18 is overrated, and takes away the choice for young wannabe brides.

‘Heck, you don’t want a 40 year old man seeing a girl of 13. It’s not right – they should get married, and make it respectable,’ said Thape.

‘Come and get yourself a child bride in Idaho, we’ll even throw in some popcorn, and nachos,’ added Thape.
