The government is allowing nurses and NHS staff to park for free outside restaurants from Monday to Wednesday in August.
Boris Johnson has pointed out that the restaurant must have a car park attached to it, with free parking, for the offer to NHS staff to stand.
Johnson added that parking on the road near the restaurant will carry the regular street parking charges.
‘Perhaps the nurses can walk to the hospital from the restaurant?’ suggested Johnson.
‘Maybe if they’ve all got cars, we’re paying them too much money,’ added Johnson.
