A mini-mart owner can’t believe his luck after eventually selling a pack of Penne Pasta that he’s had on the shelf since 1978.
Local shop owner, Peter Thape finally saw the pasta go last night as customers felt the simultaneous pinch of the lockdown and the pasta shortage.
Thape admitted that his shop has never been so rammed, after managing to sell some awful looking coconut cakes that have also been there since 2003.
‘It’s my own fault, I priced the pasta at £1.70, which was a lot even for 1978,’ admitted Thape.
‘Now I think about it, that was the price of a Ford Escort back then,’ he added.
