Cows concerned about extreme working conditions, have been promised suitable footwear by farmers.
18 month old heifer, Murial Hislop is leader of The National Union of Cows, and she believes that farmers should improve on their offer of four ankle socks each, for the winter months.
Hislop adds that ankle socks are ok, but lead to a lot of extra laundry for cows, and do not provide any real protection against the daily contact with deep mud, urine, and faecal matter.
‘We’re giving up a lot of milk here, so it would be nice to get some respect,’ said Hislop.
‘And they’re not really ankle socks, either. They’re smaller, more like trainer liner socks,’ added Hislop.
