Cosmetics companies face certain collapse with the news that British Airways are to lay off thousands of stewardesses.

With each member of cabin crew applying a two inch minimum thickness of make-up per shift, the loss to cosmetic companies is incalculable.

L’Oreal spokesman, Peter Thape insisted that the cabin crew still be allowed to wear make-up when furloughed, or if ultimately made redundant, at home around the house.

‘Women should look like clowns at all times,’ insisted Thape.

‘Otherwise, we won’t take them seriously,’ he added.
