Linesmen told to raise flags within first two days of the offence

Linesmen, or assistant referees, have been instructed to raise their flag to signify offside, within three days of a game finishing.

Currently, the law states that if a player is in an offside position, or seeking to gain an advantage, the linesman should raise his flag within one calendar week.

But FIFA supremo, Peter Thape has insisted that Linesmen reduce the current wait for them to raise their flags in order for players and supporters to understand what’s going on.

‘Play needs to continue for one full month after an offside…something something blah de blah about VAR,’ said Thape.

‘I hope that’s all nice and clear now,’ added Thape.
