Manchester United sacked manager David Moyes on 22 April 2014 and named veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs as caretaker boss. Giggs will be in control "until a permanent appointment can be made," the club said in a statement. The Premier League champions previously announced Moyes' sacking in the briefest of statements on their website, adding: "we would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role". David Moyes will be announced as the new manager of Real Madrid this morning.

Moyes recently became available for work, and Madrid have used the opportunity to let caretaker manager, Zinedine Zidane try his luck elsewhere.

Madrid have been tracking the former Everton and Manchester United Manager, and will introduce the trophy hound at The Bernabeu Stadium later this morning.

‘I’m hoping to keep Real up next season,’ boasted Moyes.

‘Top 18 finish, and maybe a decent cup run is what we’re after here,’ added Moyes.
