Local community club, Manchester City have pointed a finger at French club, Paris Saint-Germain, accusing them of trying to guarantee European cup success with the £200 million purchase of Neymar.
Man City Chairman, Peter Thape believes that smaller clubs, who use local talent, and build a team from their own youth policy may get left behind if clubs start to spend large sums of money on players.
Thape has questioned the ethics of the French team’s Middle-Eastern backers, whose limitless supply of cash could change the face of football.
‘This team, PSG have come from virtually nowhere. Where’s their history?’ asked Thape.
‘This doesn’t feel like sport to me. If PSG win The Champions League, it will be a hollow victory,’ added Thape.
