The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has questioned the authenticity of Bannister’s pre-drug testing era sub four-minute mile.

Although Bannister achieved the record breaking feet in 1954, before chemistry was invented, the IAAF have suggested that Bannister may have replaced his blood plasma after 2 laps.

Bannister, who is now 88, has been told that all records set before 2005 will be scrapped, but that he’s welcome to try again in the future.

‘I’m going back into training next Monday,’ said Sir Roger.

‘I’ll be doing 3 star jumps a day – that should do it,’ added Sir Roger.
